NaviSite Announces Managed Cloud Lotus Connections

Cloud service provider NaviSite, a member of the Talkin’ Cloud Stock Index, has announced the launch of managed services for the IBM Lotus Connections 3.0 social software. Like their other managed Lotus application services, this offering has NaviSite providing everything from on-boarding to license management. And at least one vendor is taking advantage of NaviSite managed Lotus Connections to build their channel relationships.

For those not in the know, Lotus Connections is designed to match business pros to subject matter experts within and without their company. By providing enterprises with that functionality on-demand, either on dedicated hosted infrastructure or from the public cloud (as fine a distinction as TalkinCloud has ever seen), NaviSite aims to save enterprises up to 47% on on-premises operating costs — at least, according to the company’s press release.

Interestingly, early NaviSite managed Lotus Connections customer Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions says that they’re using it to enhance their channel play. To wit, here’s what Arrow ECS Vice President Mark Taylor had to say:

“We are using Lotus Connections to better collaborate and communicate with our reseller community.”

Taylor went on to praise aspects of the offering like NaviSite’s Lotus expertise, their cloud SLAs, and their disaster recovery features. But TalkinCloud would be interested to hear more about enterprises using social networking to keep their partner base in the loop.
