Just in case you still need to be sold on cloud file sync, Mozy is positioning Stash as a way to keep personal and business data alike securely in the cloud and accessible from your computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone, Amazon Kindle Fire, Apple iPad … whatever. This type of service has obliterated many users’ need for USB flash drives and the lower-tech solution of e-mailing yourself files.

The major value proposition of Mozy Stash over other similar offerings, according to the company, is that it combines Stash synchronization the full backup solution of MozyHome (with Stash support for the enterprise reseller-friendly MozyPro coming this year, a company spokesperson confirmed), with one product, one folder and one interface. You can set some data to sync and some not to, but it’s all in your cloud.

Right now, it’s free, but Stash is only open to MozyHome customers, though you can try out Stash with a free 2GB account. We’ll be keeping an eye on Stash as it prepares for full release — after all, Mozy forms the core of several channel-friendly storage offerings, and this could become an important development for cloud service providers down the line.
