MMY Consulting, an Indianapolis-based IT systems integrator and Google Apps reseller, is spending $700,000 on new office space and adding up to 60 new jobs by 2015. It’s the latest example of a Google channel partner showing momentum in the cloud.

MMY Consulting, founded in 2003, claims to be the only enterprise-level Google Apps cloud productivity and Google Postini message services reseller in the state of Indiana. The State of Indiana is offering MMY Consulting up to $1 million in performance-based tax credits, with the potential for property tax abatements down the line.

Right now, MMY Consulting employs around 60 people in one Indianapolis office. Quick math suggests they’re angling to double in size by that 2015 mark.

Google: Friend or Foe?

Admittedly, some resellers and VARs consider Google a rival. Critics note that Google Apps partners can only make $10 per user per year — far less than traditional on-premise software integration projects.

Still, the Google Apps Reseller partner program has plenty of channel fans, too. More than 1,000 partners are now part of the program. Stephen Cho, director of Google Apps channels, describes the progress in a December 2010 TalkinCloud FastChat Video (left).

Additional true believers in the Google Apps Reseller program include SADA Systems Inc. The 35-person company now has about 2 million end users under contract to leverage cloud services, and the company’s revenues more than tripled in 2010, according to the Talkin’ Cloud 50 survey, which runs through March 31, 2011.

For traditional resellers and on-premise VARs, both SADA Systems and MMY Consulting are worth watching. In theory, SADA and MMY are two examples of successful Google Apps resellers. We’ll be sure to monitor their progress in the months ahead.
