The Amazon Web Services Direct Connect ecosystem has expanded with the inclusion of Masergy Communications. The provider of managed networking and cloud services will provide direct, private access to AWS Direct Connect in North America.

According to the company, Masergy’s managed cloud network provides on-demand access to AWS for “a predictable, consistent experience and increased performance and security.” Masergy is offering customers private, on-net access to AWS by physically interconnecting with Amazon via east and west data centers.

The integration with AWS isn’t unique, as others provide a similar service, but it does provide customers with private access to AWS services in all U.S. regions, including AWS GovCloud.

“Companies wanting to deploy critical applications on cloud services such as AWS are often challenged by the non-deterministic performance, diminished security, and lack of quality of service capabilities associated with access via the public Internet,” said John Dumbleton, senior vice president of Business Development for Masergy, in a prepared statement. “Our relationship with Amazon resolves these issues by providing on-demand, high-performance cloud networking solutions with an unsurpassed customer experience.”

Masergy hopes to differentiate itself with its service level agreement (SLA), as well as the ability to modify services in real time as data needs require. Masergy also provides its Intelligent Network Analyst tool to view and track all network traffic.

AWS continues to expand its Direct Connect service through a variety of data center partners. Last May, AWS expanded the program to include Equinix.
