iWeb Unveils Fully Managed Cloud Hosting Service Based on OpenStack

IaaS provider iWeb has released a fully managed cloud hosting service based on OpenStack. According to the company, cloud service provides guaranteed disk speed as a key element of overall system performance.

“When we looked at the market we couldn’t find a cloud that met all our customers’ needs. By engineering this cloud with the best vendors and technologies, we are delivering something I am sure customers will enjoy and competitors will envy,” said Mike Gero, director of product management at iWeb, in a prepared statement. “We truly believe this will meet our customer’s performance, availability and support requirements. Due to our use of SSD drives our standard disk performance is on average 2x that of other cloud providers and the security of customer data is maintained with data replication and redundancy.”

iWeb’s cloud service was designed as a QoS-enabled and centralized block storage service engineered with SSD drives. Based on OpenStack Grizzly, the iWeb OpenStack-based cloud service is the company’s first in a planned series of OpenStack-based services.

The company has plans to release additional OpenStack-based cloud services in the third and fourth quarters of 2013.

“It removes all the barriers for customers wishing to upgrade to a cloud infrastructure. Reliability is built into iWeb’s DNA and this cloud guarantees superior performance without sacrificing reliability. We are extremely proud of what we have built and pleased to bring it to the market,” said Christian Primeau, president and COO of iWeb, in a prepared statement.
