Intermedia Hits 400,000 Hosted Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes
Hosted Microsoft Exchange messaging provider Intermedia has announced a major milestone with its 400,000th premium managed cloud mailbox. And on an extremely interesting related note, Intermedia went from its 300,000-mailbox milestone to this announcement in only 10 months. Maybe there’s something to this “cloud” thing after all.
It’s worth mentioning that many, many of those 400,000 cloud mailboxes came to Intermedia by way of the more than 10,000 channel partners the company is now claiming, per its press release. Intriguingly, 80 percent of Intermedia mailboxes were migrated from on-premises systems, not other cloud messaging deployments, and all new customers are purchasing a whole suite of cloud applications, not just the relatively low-margin mailboxes.
The lucky 400,000th mailbox came courtesy of global weather service provider Earth Networks, which migrated 200 employees to the Intermedia Office in the Cloud platform.
According to that same press release, Earth Networks selected a services package including “hosted Exchange 2010 for e-mail; hosted PBX and Conference Bridges for voice; SharePoint for document management; hosted BlackBerry and ActiveSync for mobility; as well as Fax via E-mail, resource mailboxes and UserPilot — Intermedia’s proprietary service enabling users to log-in securely to their on-premises and hosted applications.”
Finally, Intermedia closed this milestone announcement with some more statistics, including the fact that there are “about 70 [percent] more Exchange mailboxes and services than there were two years ago,” and mailbox sales are up 40 percent year-over-year in Q3.
Needless to say, Intermedia is on our radar. Keep watching TalkinCloud for more.
