“DDMA now has the ability to discovery private and public cloud environments,” Augustine said. “We can discover virtual and physical environments and facilitate hybrid environments, which is very unique.”

Augustine said DDMA can now discover and facilitate hybrid environments — with support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and VMware vCloud virtual stacks in particular. VMware added hybrid cloud capabilities to vCloud back in August, 2011. “What I have seen is that private cloud is most popular,” Augustine explained. “So including VMware in this content pack is big for our clients. And when I ask about public cloud, I find that not a whole lot are using it. But if they are, they are using Amazon.”

Augustine said that demand for HP’s DDMA solution is just as strong “across the board” in terms of verticals as it was when we last spoke in November 2011. At the time, Augustine noted a strong growth in MSP demand for HP’s DDMA solution and promised more updates centered around simplicity and broader support over next next 12- to 18-months. Now HP has begun delivering on Augustine’s promise.

Existing HP DDMA users will be able to upgrade to Service Pack 10 for free via HP Live. They’ll have the ability discover Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), and Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) Volumes and Snapshots.When it comes to vCloud, users will be able to discover vApps, vApp templates and vApp networks, among other solutions associated with vCloud.

HP doesn’t have a timetable for another Content Pack release. As Augustine said, the Content Packs are all based on what and when customers need.

“They [HP DDMA customers] want to be able to discover the latest technology,” Augustine explained. “If there’s a significant and pervasive need — such as multiple clients asking to discover vCloud — that becomes top priority.
