HP Enhances DaaS Offers
As part of its biannual Device as a Service (DaaS) updates, HP Inc. today announced that it has expanded DaaS for Apple in Europe, is expanding availability of its HP Tech Café solutions and has added new analytics and reporting features in HP TechPulse.
HP’s DaaS, which offers a complete solution including hardware, analytics, proactive management and life cycle services was formally rolled out in 2016, and today is sold by hundreds of HP partners.
“We designed DaaS from the earliest days to be not only partner-friendly but partner complementary,” said Bill Avey, global head and general manager, personal systems services at HP Inc., noting that 87 percent of HP revenue is driven by and with partners. “So, think of everything that we describe here as available through and with our channel partners.”
One year ago, HP launched DaaS for Apple in the U.S. and today, the company is expanding that partnership with Apple to 20 countries in Europe. As was done in the U.S., Apple’s device enrollment program (DEP) and the Apple volume purchase program (VPP) are integrated into TechPulse for a seamless experience across the Apple and Microsoft ecosystems.
HP Tech Café is a support solution portfolio for a customer’s employees. The portfolio includes the HP Tech Café Market vendor solution, for instant, 24/7 access to supplies and accessories; the HP Tech Café Market locker system, for a secure and convenient location for staging devices and exchanging hardware for repair or replacement; and, the HP Tech Café walk-up center, which offers face to face, multidevice, multi-OS tech support.
The HP Tech Café is being expanded globally with ITSM integration and automated smart stocking based on monitoring and analytics.
“There’s an increasing desire on the part of employers to remove friction from the employee experience to drive improved engagement and moral with their workforces in a competitive labor market,” said Avey.
HP rolled out several advancements for HP TechPulse proactive management and planning for HP DaaS, including: predictive analytics for Android and MacOS, Windows 10 hardware upgrade compatibility report, improved inventory reports with the ability to add manual devices, improved BIOS report to show out of date status in addition to BIOS version, and support for Microsoft telemetry integration.
“As everyone knows, most companies are in the thick of Windows 10 migrations if they haven’t already migrated given Microsoft’s end of life support for Windows 7 — coming early next year,” said Lorri Jefferson, vice president and head of software and services product management at HP Inc. “What we’re doing now with HP TechPulse is providing them [customers] with a rich report on what parts of their fleet can be upgraded with no issues to Windows 10 and which devices would need to be modified or replaced before they can be compatible with Windows 10.”
