HP Discover: Expanded Hybrid Cloud Strategy Cuts Costs

New and updated cloud offerings from Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), announced at the HP Discover conference in Barcelona, are meant to provide customers with greater agility, simplified management, improved security and lower costs in hybrid cloud environments.

HP is focusing on helping partners and customers embrace the hybrid cloud deployment model, particularly within the OpenStack framework. And the company has made big cloud-related announcements at HP Discover over the last couple of years. This year’s announcement include new products and services such as:

• The next generation of HP CloudSystem, HP’s private cloud solution and the foundation of its hybrid cloud strategy. The latest version of CloudSystem integrates with OpenStack-based HP Cloud OS technology. According to HP, enhancements to the private cloud solution also include an integrated and scalable stack, as well as the ability to deploy cloud services on CloudStack within minutes. Two versions will be available when the new iteration goes live in the first half of 2014—HP CloudSystem Foundation and HP CloudSystem Enterprise.
• HP Hybrid Cloud Design Professional Services, a design approach that is meant to help organizations and partners architect a cloud solution that aligns with technical, organizational and business requirements. The consulting services are available now.
• An updated version of HP Managed Virtual Private Cloud and the new HP Public Cloud VPC to provide customers with more self-service features. They are both available now.
• HP Hybrid Cloud Management Platform integrates HP’s cloud management software, HP Cloud Services Automation and the OpenStack-based HP Cloud OS to provide a common user interface and a simplified portal to enable organizations to manage their entire traditional IT and cloud systems. The platform will launch in January 2014.
