Hitachi Content Platform Brings Cloud Portability to Verizon Cloud Marketplace
Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) is bringing its Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) for Verizon Cloud to the Verizon Cloud Marketplace. The adaptive cloud tiering technology gives organizations portability in their data center deployments, enabling transitions between traditional IT, hybrid cloud, private cloud and public clouds.
The platform lets Verizon Cloud Marketplace customers choose the optimal data storage configurations for their companies by automating the management of structured and unstructured data, according to Hitachi. The whole package provides greater agility and security, the company said.
“Since the inception of hybrid cloud, data management has been difficult to guarantee,” said Mike Walkey, senior vice present of Global Partners and Alliances, Hitachi Data Systems, in a statement. “By using the power of Hitachi Data Systems and Verizon Cloud, customers can simplify the path to hybrid cloud services.”
Hitachi said its platform will also allow customers to create service plans that automatically move selected data to and from Verizon Cloud storage services, as specified by the user. Data can be compressed and encrypted before being sent to the Verizon Cloud, while local copies of data can be retained by the user.
Last week, Verizon Enterprise Solutions announced the launch of Verizon Cloud Marketplace, the company’s online storefront for cloud-based services. Hitachi Data Systems is among several partner companies to contribute pre-built cloud services to the marketplace, along with AppDynamics, Juniper Networks (JNPR), pfSense and Tervela.
“Verizon Cloud Marketplace is designed to meet the requirements of enterprise customers by providing one-stop access to the cloud-based applications required to enable their business operations,” said Siki Giunta, senior vice president of cloud services at Verizon Enterprise Solutions. “Working with companies such as Hitachi Data Systems and others across the cloud ecosystem, we will continue to expand the number of pre-certified cloud application to streamline the cloud purchasing process and help enterprises improve efficiency and deployment cycles.”
