Hillstone Networks Launches CloudEdge to Protect AWS Environments

Amazon Web Services (AWS) users now have another alternative for protecting their infrastructure with the release of CloudEdge, a virtual firewall solution from network security solution provider Hillstone Networks.

CloudEdge is deployed as an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) gateway, and is capable of integrating with other security services such as application visibility and identification, VPN, QoS and more, according to the announcement. The solution is based off of Hillstone’s Next-Generation Firewall technology and is available in both standard and advanced editions, with the advanced edition capable of handing twice the bandwidth of the standard edition.

“Our customers want easy-to-use solutions that are available for immediate purchase and deployment,” said Lingling Zhang, vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Hillstone Networks, in a statement. “The introduction of CloudEdge demonstrates our focus on offering comprehensive security solutions that power and promote the customer business.”

CloudEdge inspects all traffic flowing across the VPC (including North-South traffic inspection) to weed out unauthorized access attempts and includes snapshot backup integration, so customers can restore their firewall services in case of a system failure. The service also includes IPSec VPN and SCVPN for endpoint and hybrid-cloud protection as well as server load balancing, according to Hillstone.

In other AWS news, Amazon recently announced the general availability of AWS IoT, which is designed to provide a cloud platform for small devices with limited system resources.
