Google Apps Partner Cloud Sherpas Makes West Coast Buy
Cloud Sherpas, very likely the biggest independent Google Apps Authorized Reseller and solution provider, is building its momentum in the channel with the acquisition of San Francisco-based Google partner Omnetic. With the combined resources, Cloud Sherpas said it now has the largest concentration of Google Apps Certified Deployment Specialists short of Google itself. And that’s not to mention the fact that Cloud Sherpas now serves former Omnetic customers including National Geographic and Dr. Martens.
Omnetic was founded in 2008 by Chris McGarry, who led the deployment of Google Apps at Salesforce.com and was a member of the team that integrated the two SaaS platforms, according to the press release. While the language in the announcement was somewhat ambiguous, it sounds like McGarry and his entire staff are going to be staying on under Cloud Sherpas’ new management — although specific terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
In the press materials, Cloud Sherpas noted its revenue grew 600 percent in 2010, and has 800,000 customers migrated to the Google Apps platform (For its part, Omnetic handled 100,000). And with the reported momentum around the SherpaTools administration suite, the ability to reach customers in a whole new market could lead to some major channel waves.
