Google Apps Now Offering Administration Tools to All Users
Google Apps has expanded its much-touted, ever-maturing administration tools to all users — including those using the free version. What are the cloud channel implications?
Well, for starters, I have a sneaking suspicion there are plenty of smaller managed service providers out there who are managing Google Apps for customers that don’t need or want a paid deployment. And extending management tools such as delegated administration, multi-domain support and fine-grained user policy management, which, according to the Google Enterprise blog, are now available, is only going to build value and customer satisfaction.
And they give those free users just a taste of the enterprise muscle of the Google Apps suite, which can only help Google. As that same official blog notes, “features such as 24×7 support, 25GB mailboxes, enhanced functionality like email routing, or advanced reporting or migration tools” are available only through paid Google Apps for Business deployments.
And who knows? This move could bring even more cloud service providers into the Google Apps Authorized Reseller fold, if they’re managing a Google Apps deployment without a formal membership in the program.
