GoodData Adds Google Enterprise Head to Board, Wins Funding
Google Enterprise President Dave Girouard has joined cloud business intelligence (BI) startup GoodData‘s board of directors. And that’s not all: GoodData also completed a $15 million round of funding, bringing it to $28.5 million in total funding.
Leading the round of funding was Andreessen Horowitz, with existing investors General Catalyst Partners, Fidelity Growth Partners and Windcrest Partners also throwing in. John O’Farrell, general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, will be joining Giroaurd on the board.
GoodData plans to use the new funding to “disrupt the $25 billion business intelligence and data warehousing market and continue to seamlessly connect business people to business data,” according to the press release. Apparently, 2,500 companies already use GoodData’s offering.
Specifically, GoodData plans on expanding its analytics app portfolio. But most interestingly to TalkinCloud readers, GoodData wants to expand its technology “Powered by GoodData” partner program — channel-friendly vendors including Zendesk and Pardot already use GoodData behind their statistical analysis components, and GoodData wants to build out that offering.
Girouard apparently will be offering GoodData his expertise in product development, service delivery and cloud service sales. That sounds logical, given his role in expanding Google Apps’ enterprise play. I’m curious if he’ll advise GoodData to expand into the traditional cloud resale channel, since that’s worked so well for Google thus far.
Stay tuned to TalkinCloud for updates on GoodData going forward.
