GoGrid Update: John Keagy Returns as CEO of Cloud Company

Cloud infrastructure firm GoGrid says founder John Keagy, a 20-year veteran in IT entrepreneurship, is returning to lead the cloud computing company. The company also completed a SSAE 16 audit, which is increasingly popular among cloud services providers (CSPs) and data center providers.

Keagy replaces founding board member Warren Heffelfinger as CEO, who took on the post in June 2011. At that time Keagy was named executive chairman.

In a prepared statement Keagy said:

“2011 was another banner year for GoGrid, with excellent growth in revenue and profit and exciting new technology and services. With the successful launch of our new EMEA Headquarters and data center in Amsterdam, we’re well on the way to fulfilling our long-term vision of bringing the GoGrid cloud to all major markets worldwide.”

In a telephone interview with The WHIR Keagy added:

“Really, this is about me. I own the business, I’m the founder. I’m passionate and I wanted to be back at the helm. Eight months ago, it was exciting to put a professional CEO (Heffelfinger) at the helm. There are many founder-led businesses that have crossed that bridge. Then there are many founder-led businesses that have crossed that bridge and that have crossed it back again.”

GoGrid works with a range of partners. GoGrid also announced that it is one of the latest cloud providers to complete its SOC 1 Statement of Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16) audit.

SSAE 16 is a new standard developed in 2011 by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to replace SAS 70. In recent months, a lengthy list of data center providers have completed SSAE 16 audits.
