GoGrid Offers Hybrid Cloud with Big Data Analytics

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) firm GoGrid has announced the general availability of its Big Data Solution, a hybrid, single-tenant cloud infrastructure designed to handle high-performance analytic jobs while leveraging open source data solutions such as Hadoop. GoGrid’s Big Data Solution is accessible through GoGrid’s management portal, and the package includes hardware for running Cloudera‘s distribution of Hadoop as an introduction to Hadoop implementation.

Also included in the package is one Name Node and three Data Nodes in a multi-rack architecture and GoGrid’s Professional Cloud plan. According to the company, this solution enables customers to leverage GoGrid’s cloud servers to scale quickly and on-demand to meet sudden spikes in traffic while leveraging a single-tenant infrastructure specifically designed for analytical use cases.

“With the introduction of the new Big Data Solution, GoGrid provides businesses with a reliable, high-performance hybrid cloud infrastructure specifically designed for Big Data workloads in the cloud,” said Jeffrey Samuels, chief marketing officer, GoGrid, in a prepared statement. “We’re excited that we’ve already helped many customers optimize their Hadoop clusters on GoGrid and created this flexible hybrid solution to deliver the performance and scalability they require.”

Pricing for the bundle is $3,800 per month, and for a limited time GoGrid is discounting the price 20 percent for customers who sign up for a 12-month commitment.

In March 2012 Talkin Cloud reported that founder John Keagy returned to GoGrid’s CEO position after leaving it only nine months earlier. Also, at the end of March AlwaysOn named GoGrid an “On Demand Top 100” winner in the cloud-infrastructure category.
