Gluster and RightScale Partner For Cloud NAS
Gluster, which provides scale-out, open-source storage solutions, has announced a partnership with cloud management platform provider RightScale to deliver NAS for cloud environments. As a software-only solution, the RightScale Cloud Management Platform seems a perfect fit for easier deployment of Gluster-powered NAS in the cloud.
The RightScale, as a refresher, provides a vendor-agnostic way of managing clouds and deploying services. And while Gluster certainly gets exposed to many customers they otherwise might not otherwise have reached, RightScale gets a way for its cloud administrator customers to deploy a cloud storage solution in a few clicks and add more storage as needed, according to the press release.
On the flip side, the partnership enables Gluster customers to extend the benefits of the RightScale Cloud Management Platform to their existing deployment. And by that same token, RightScale is offering Gluster customers a single viewpoint from which to monitor and manage their cloud data growth.
The two solutions were made for each other, said Jack O’Brien, vice president of marketing at Gluster, in a prepared statement:
“As cloud computing continues to gain momentum, the industry is realizing that storage is a large pain point in achieving the promised benefits of the cloud. Gluster’s scale-out storage is specifically designed for cloud and virtual machine environments, making it the most effective solution for addressing the issues of flexibility and manageability in such dynamic environments. This partnership with RightScale allows us to better serve the growing number of customers where storage is playing a crucial role in the adoption of cloud computing.”
