Gemalto, NetApp Partner for Centralized Key Management, Encryption
Security solution provider Gemalto has teamed with NetApp to provide Amazon Web Services customers with an integrated storage, encryption and key management solution.
Security solution provider Gemalto has teamed with NetApp to provide Amazon Web Services customers with an integrated storage, encryption and key management solution.
Beginning immediately, enterprise customers can purchase a bundled solution through AWS Marketplace containing Gemalto SafeNet Virtual KeySecure and NetApp Cloud ONTAP. The two solutions allow users to maintain control over their encryption keys while simultaneously storing and encrypting data and apps in virtual environments, according to the announcement.
Gemalto said the bundled offering is expected to be a hit among AWS users because many competing storage solutions are unable to provide customers with complete control over their encryption keys. By combining SafeNet with NetApp Cloud ONTAP, customers who virtualize their data and applications can remain in control of their environments via customizable security policies for data access.
“NetApp’s storage expertise is a perfect fit with Gemalto’s proven key management technology,” said Todd Moore, vice president of Data Encryption Product Management at Gemalto, in a statement. “AWS users [who] turn to NetApp to manage, store and protect their data can do so even more confidently than ever before, while maintaining 100 percent ownership of their encryption keys.”
AWS customers have the option of purchasing the SafeNet and NetApp Cloud ONTAP bundle either on an hourly basis or via a yearly subscription. A 30-day free trial is also available for those who wish to try before they buy.
NetApp announced support for AWS back in February with the launch of three editions of its SteelStore Backup and disaster recovery software.
