FiberLight Launches IaaS in Partnership with Cirracore

High-performance fiber optic network solutions provider FiberLight is getting into the infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) business through a partnership with Cirracore, a provider of VMware (VMW)-based cloud IaaS solutions for disaster recovery and business continuity.

The public cloud and hybrid cloud IaaS offering is intended to provide customers with a viable business continuity and disaster recovery solution for data transport, processing, storage and distribution. According to the companies, the new IaaS product enables customers to easily scale out infrastructure while reducing their technology spending by taking advantage of the scale of cloud computing.

“By performing an in-depth capacity assessment on current computing resources on behalf our customers, we can quickly determine financial advantages to sending strategically identified computing efforts to the cloud,” said David Spitznagel, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing at FiberLight, in a prepared statement. “We’re excited to partner with Cirracore, who has experienced unprecedented uptimes of 100 percent since the company’s inception, largely due to a leadership team heavily grounded in IT security.”

FiberLight is positioning the launch as a complementary solution to its history of providing enterprise customers with “affordable, private and dedicated transport as well as Internet access services.”

The IaaS offering is a co-branded product being targeted at FiberLight’s existing customer base, as well as potentially new customers looking to move to the cloud and enjoy the benefits of business continuity and disaster recovery from cloud-based services.

“FiberLight’s customer-centric business approach is evidenced by their decision to offer cloud services alongside a no-obligation assessment that objectively identifies where and when certain infrastructure can be migrated to the cloud,” said Fred Tanzella, CEO of Cirracore, in a prepared statement. “Cirracore values FiberLight’s commitment in educating customers on the cloud, specific to their environment and overall business strategy.”

The cloud-based business continuity and disaster recovery market continues to grow, not only in dollar signs but also in the number of players.
