EMC World 2012: Certified Partner Solutions, Hadoop Support

At EMC World 2012, IT as a service firm EMC (NYSE: EMC) announced it has validated 45 EMC Certified Solutions created by its channel partners. The certified solutions are meant to support products from EMC’s Information Intelligence Group (IIG), and, in the company’s view, show EMC’s commitment to provide value to its business customers.

EMC’s Certified Solutions program, which the company launched at EMC World 2011, is for information management companies looking to build solutions and technologies across the IIG product portfolio. EMC-certified architects and a third-party organization validate these partner contributions for “functional completeness, performance and scalability, security and interoperability.”

“The EMC Certified Solution program continues to gain momentum, with 45 solutions and enabling technologies certified to date,” said Chris McLaughlin, VP of Channel and Alliances for EMC IIG, in a prepared statement. “This program ensures customers will continue to achieve the solid business benefits they expect from EMC and its valued partner community; realizing efficiencies across their organizations’ complex business processes, while achieving quicker time to value than ever before.”

Others announcements from EMC World 2012 include the Greenplum Analytics Workbench, Documentum D2 4.0 and the acquisition of Syncplicity, a cloud-based file management solutions provider that provides native cloud-based sync-and-share capabilities sought by enterprise customers. The company’s solutions will be added to the IIG product portfolio, and will leverage “EMC’s rich heritage in enterprise content management, information governance solutions and cloud storage,” for “thousands of enterprise customers who rely on EMC’s strong go-to-market channel,” according to the company.

The Greenplum Analytics Workbench is a 1,000-node cluster serving as a lab environment for Big Data innovation; its primary use is for scale validation of the Apache Hadoop code base. Results from the Analytics Workbench will be available to the open source community.

Documentum D2 is modem-enabled content management application for EMC’s Documentum platform. Version 4.0 is now available through EMC OnDemand, and has new features for personalizing the user experience, including widget-based workspaces that increase usability and adjust to user preferences.
