Virtualization and cloud management software solutions provider Embotics Corp. recently launched Embotics V-Commander for Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Hyper-V. The technology is designed to provide IT-as-a-service (ITaaS) with support for multi-hypervisor environments and a new multi-tenant cost model capability that aims to help customers make the right economic decisions for their virtualized data centers.

Embotics new solution enables customers to bring Hyper-V into data center environments for rationalization via reclamation, optimization and workload migration through multi-hypervisor adoption, the company said. Features also include provisioning, self-service, service catalogs, IT costing and chargeback, workflow automation, resource optimization and lifecycle management capabilities.

Embotics President, CEO and founder Jay Litke told Talkin’ Cloud that most customers have been using VMware for virtualization, however, but the attitude towards Hyper-V has started to shift. After three years of Hyper-V support, Microsoft’s solution is finally becoming “good enough,” Litke said.

According to Litke, the company wants to convert VMware servers to Hyper-V. He added that he expects more than 50 percent of the company’s customers will partake in some type of migration to Hyper-V.

Embotics new solution has built-in analytics to provide a cost-savings comparison between the two virtualization platforms to help customers make decisions on platforms and services, Litke said.

Embotics V-Commander also now provides for integration for Microsoft System Center, a stack management tool.

“It’s been a VMware-dominated world,” Litke said, “but the tides are changing.”
