Dimension Data (DDT) continues to expand its global network of cloud-based data centers with the addition of a new data center in Canada.

The Bryanston-based information technology and communications services company this week announced the launch of its Toronto-based managed cloud platform (MCP) — the architecture it uses in its data centers to deliver cloud services, storage arrays and additional software. This addition brings its number of MCPs deployed worldwide to 12.

Dimension Data Canada Cloud Services Business Development Manager Greg Walker told MSPmentor that the new MCP expands the company’s global footprint and enables channel partners to provide cloud services more effectively.

“In addition, this opens up opportunities for Canadian-based system integrators, VARs, and service providers to join our OneCloud program by reselling or white-labeling a Canadian-based service,” he said.

The Toronto-based MCP — which was built on Cisco, EMC and VMware architecture — is immediately available to Dimension Data customers and OneCloud partners. All Dimension Data MCPs provide 24/7 phone support and integrated management capabilities.

As for additional MCP locations, Walker said Dimension Data will launch a new MCP in Auckland, New Zealand later this year. “We continue to evaluate new MCP markets based on customer demand,” he said.

“Cloud and data center services are key to our business worldwide, and we’ll continue to launch related services that bring value to our clients,” Walker said. “In the coming weeks, we’ll announce the details around a new managed services offering for data centers”
