Dataguise, a data security intelligence and protection solution provider, made cloud news this week with two partner-related announcements: It joined the partner programs of both Hortonworks and Cloudera, two organizations that support Apache Hadoop.

Dataguise announced a partnership with Hortonworks, a Hadoop commercial vendor, to deliver technology and programs that support the expansion of the Apache Hadoop ecosystem. According to the two firms, the combination of Hortonworks Data Platform and Dataguise’s DgHadoop allows large data environments based on Hadoop distributions to securely manage and protect their data.

DgHadoop is a modular and flexible service that provides enterprise-level protection for important data housed in Hadoop deployments, which informs IT decision makers about compliance and risk management policies.

“Hortonworks is a trusted provider of Apache Hadoop solutions and we are pleased to partner with them as we work together to improve the security and protection of sensitive content in the massive data stored in Hadoop clusters,” said Venkat Subramanian, VP of Engineering, Dataguise, in a prepared statement. “As a member of the Hortonworks Technology Partner Program, we will work together to ensure product alignment and compatibility for the long-term viability of our centralized policy management, detection, protection and security intelligence solution.”

Dataguise also joined the Cloudera Connect Partner Program, designed to promote Hadoop for business applications and consists of technology solutions vendors, value-added resellers and managed service providers (MSPs).

Last month Cloudera announced that Hadoop MSP Metascale joined its Connect Partner Program. In April Cloudera released the public beta of version 4.0 of its enterprise-level Distribution Including Apache Hadoop, which focused on increased security and improved extensibility for high availability and Big Data environments.
