CTERA and Seneca Partner For Hybrid Cloud Storage
Israeli hybrid storage solution vendor CTERA has partnered with US-based value-added IT distributor Seneca, enabling Seneca’s reseller partners to offer a full range of cloud services and appliances to their customers. Here’s the scoop.
The VAR Guy’s sister site MSPmentor detailed CTERA’s midmarket offering here, but the general gist is that their flagship Cloud Attached Storage line allows administrators to choose how their data is stored on the backend. Want it to go to the Amazon S3 cloud? Go for it. Want it on a SAN or even a locally-attached drive? CTERA gives you the option to do it.
And now VARs partnered with Seneca can leverage CTERA’s products for file sharing, managed cloud storage, backup, and remote access, according to the press release. Interestingly, the CTERA CloudPlug, also included under the arrangement, can take any USB or eSATA drive and turn it into a NAS appliance with cloud services integrated. And Seneca’s allowing resellers to sell cloud storage under their own brand.
It’s hard for VARs serving the SMB space to roll their own cloud services, even as the cost-benefit analysis starts to look pretty good. By offering cloud services ready to go, CTERA and Seneca are helping VARs make the kind of recurring revenues they need to stay competitive.
