CTERA and COMPUTERLINKS UK Offer European Partners Cloud Storage
COMPUTERLINKS UK, a distributor of IT security, network performance and Internet technology to the channel, has launched the ALVEA Cloud Attached Storage offering. It leverages technology from CTERA. In theory, COMPUTERLINKS partners can now offer SMBs a hybrid way to manage data on premise and in the cloud.
The offering combines the on-premises ALVEA network-attached storage (NAS) with the COMPUTERLINKS-delivered ALVEA Managed Secure Backup cloud platform, according to the press release. Hence, Cloud Attached Storage — the linchpin of CTERA’s own offerings. The on-site device keeps files locally accessible for fast recovery, but if full disaster recovery is needed, the cloud copy can restore individual files or servers and endpoints alike.
At launch, ALVEA Cloud Attached Storage will only be available to MSPs and VARs in the UK and Ireland, but COMPUTERLINKS says it plans on expanding the offering to all countries and territories it serves. And COMPUTERLINKS plans to educate and fully support partners on the new offering.
TalkinCloud hears that online storage is driving cloud computing growth in 2011 (though some additional perspectives are forthcoming). If true, this hybrid approach to the cloud could find a channel audience.
