An update of Cloud Technology PartnersPaaSLane cloud application transformation solution is meant to enable app developers to assess and optimize source code for cloud readiness and modernization quicker and more efficiently than before. PaaSLane 2.5 has several new and enhanced features around Java and .NET application developers.

PaaSLane first unveiled the PaaSLane offering last fall. The cloud platform is intended to smooth the transition of applications as they shift from traditional IT infrastructure to the cloud. The 2.0 update released earlier this year reduced the migration time needed to move those apps onto the cloud. With PaaSLane 2.5, Cloud Technology Partners is aiming to provide more flexibility, including separating it into two targeted solutions: PaaSLane Assess and PaaSLane Optimize.

“Developing modern cloud applications without PaaSLane is complex and error-prone,” said Ben Grubin, director of Product Management for PaaSLane at Cloud Technology Partners, in a prepared statement. “With PaaSLane, application developers and engineering leaders get deep visibility into the architectural improvements that are necessary before ever starting a project, as well as guidance on exactly how and why to make specific code changes. Having PaaSLane in your software development process means avoiding the pain of outdated, expensive to maintain, and inflexible applications in the future.”

Some of the additions in version 2.5 include:

  • Local profiling that enables developers to keep source code secure with on-premise code analysis, which eliminates the need to upload the code to the cloud.

  • Support for Google Cloud Platform so developers can use PaaSLane to optimize and migrate apps to Google App Engine and Compute Engine.

  • Continuous integration support so apps can be integrated with tools including Jenkins, Microsoft TFS and Bamboo, providing continuous improvement and cloud governance of applications.

  • More than 50 new rules for modernizing C# .NET apps.

  • New rule management through custom rule sets and report templates.

  • The addition of detailed descriptions, remediations and code samples to every rule.

  • The ability to receive remediations specifically for the developer’s cloud platforms of choice, including Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft Azure, Apprenda and CloudFoundry.

PaaSLane is priced based on the application, with pricing starting at $500 per app.
