Cloud Networking: Vyatta Gets Startup Veteran for Sales VP
Physical, virtual and cloud networking specialist Vyatta has tapped Sheen Khoury, most recently founder and CEO of cloud startup Virtiv Corporation, as senior vice president of worldwide sales and field operations – a position that encompasses channel sales. Khoury is charged with the challenge of building the company’s global presence and revenue growth in the face of competition by giants including Cisco Systems and Juniper Networks.
Vyatta is hyping Khoury’s experience in the cloud computing industry, claiming he’s directly transacted more than $1 billion in commerce over the span of his career. At Virtiv, he was responsible for cloud management solutions, and prior to that he oversaw both direct and channel sales efforts to Citrix-acquiree Netscaler. According to Vyatta, while at Netscaler Khoury oversaw a revenue boost to $90 million – impressive if accurate.
Khoury’s also getting a boost right out of the starting gate, as Vyatta also announced a partnership with Japanese distributor CTC – its first in the region. That helps on the “global presence” front, and Vyatta’s press materials indicate he’s also going to put a particular focus on boosting the company’s virtualization and cloud efforts among customers and VARs.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on Vyatta as it boosts its marketplace profile and expand its partner program in 2011.
