Cisco CEO: We’ve Got Cloud Thought Leadership in Enterprises
Roughly two years ago, Cisco Systems was behind on its cloud computing strategy. Fast forward to the present, and Cisco CEO John Chambers says the networking giant is ideally positioned to capitalize on cloud computing. Plus, Executive VP Robert Lloyd thinks there are at least three ways Cisco channel partners can profit in the cloud.
Chambers and Lloyd share their perspectives in our TalkinCloud FastChat video, filmed earlier today during Cisco Partner Summit 2011 in New Orleans. The video discussion took place a few hours after Channel Chief Edison Peres unveiled the Cisco Cloud Partner Program. Lloyd points out that the program serves cloud builders, cloud services providers and cloud resellers.
“If you look at the 2,000 partners that are here [at Cisco Partner Summit], the majority have a business model that’s based on selling Cisco networking equipment with services and solving customers’ problems,” said Lloyd. “Clearly, when we talk about the cloud that’s a different business model.”
So, how many Cisco channel partners will joined the Cisco Cloud Partner Program? Cisco didn’t render any guesses. But during a separate press conference, Channel Chief Edison Peres connected the dots between established Cisco managed services providers (MSPs) and the emerging cloud opportunity.
