Cirtas Raises $22.5 Million In Cloud Storage Funding
Cirtas Systems has completed a Series B round of funding that netted the cloud storage specialist $22.5 million. That brings Cirtas’ venture capital total up to $32.5 million. Leading this round were Shasta Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners, with first-round contributors NEA, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Amazon contributing.
The money is going into supporting increasing demand for the flagship Cirtas Bluejet Cloud Storage Controller, according to the press release. The Bluejet hardware appliance is billed as the first that lets enterprises treat cloud storage like it’s on premises.
The idea is to ensure security and compliance for medium-to-large enterprises while still ensuring off-site data backup with cloud storage providers Amazon S3, Iron Mountain, EMC Atmos, and AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service. And Bluejet stores primary data on the network for easy retrieval and disaster recovery.
And, as is common with this kind of investment, Ravi Mohan of Shasta Ventures will take a seat on the Cirtas board of directors.
Cirtas does deal with cloud VARs, and it’ll be worth following the company to see how much of the $22.5 million gets invested in their channel relationships. Keep watching TalkinCloud for more.
