Cincinnati Bell and Evolve Launch Business Cloud Telephony

Proving that even a 137-year old dog can learn new tricks, Cincinnati Bell subsidiary Evolve has launched a voice-over-IP (VoIP) suite designed for business customers. Here’s the scoop.

The Evolve package comes in two types: Emerge, a totally cloud-based solution that combines local phone service, long distance, high-speed Internet, MPLS access, and conferencing into a single package; and Evantage, which brings many of the same benefits but is designed to integrate with existing phone deployments, according to the press release.

The major selling point of their cloud telephony, says Evolve, is dynamic bandwidth allocation, which means that your Internet speeds remain constant even as phone use increases or decreases. The company also says they can scale their packages for businesses of any size.

The package itself isn’t unique in the industry – companies like M5 Networks and Angel are already doing interesting things with telephony and the cloud. It’s most notable for the fact that a major telecom provider like Cincinnati Bell is jumping on the bandwagon.
