MICROSOFT INSPIRE — There’s no shortage of buzz around Microsoft Inspire this week in Las Vegas, including the vendor’s technology and distribution partners who are making new products, alliances, and/or programs this week.

Here’s a roundup of Monday’s news from Carbonite, CloudJumper and Ingram Micro.

Carbonite

Data protection vendor Carbonite on Monday announced enhanced capabilities for its data protection platform called Carbonite Endpoint 360, comprehensive backup for Microsoft Office 365.

Carbonite Endpoint 360 secures cloud-based endpoint data across all Microsoft 365 platforms including Teams, Skype for Business, SharePoint and OneDrive. The new solution offers comprehensive, automatic backup for desktops, tablets and mobile devices as well fast data recovery and protection against accidental deletions, ransomware and other types of unauthorized access to data on those devices.

“Carbonite provides a comprehensive data protection solution that helps IT organizations realize the advantages of Microsoft Azure deployments,” said Norman Guadagno, senior vice president, marketing at Carbonite. “From Carbonite migrate, which automates workload migration for complex systems, to Carbonite Endpoint 360, which provides total Microsoft 365 protection, the Carbonite-Microsoft partnership puts powerful data protection into the hands of Azure users.”

CloudJumper

CloudJumper, the workspace-as-a-service (WaaS) vendor, made two announcements at Microsoft’s global partner conference. The vendor announced general availability of Cloud Workspace Management Suite V5.3, which includes support for Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) public preview and support for Azure Government. In separate news, CloudJumper and IGEL, a provider of the next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces, announced they’re combining CloudJumper’s Cloud Workspace Management Suite and IGEL’s Workspace Edition and Enterprise Management Pack software to make it easier for businesses to adopt multisession Windows 10 desktops and applications.

Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop solution, which is built for Windows 10 and optimizes Office 365 ProPlus, is expected to be generally available later this year, and CloudJumper is ready for it with Cloud Workspace Management Suite V5.3. The vendor is demoing its wares at Inspire.

CloudJumper Workspace Management Suite V5.3 integrates with WVD APIs to orchestrate quick implementation by managed service providers (MSPs) and customers. The virtual desktops are deployed within Azure cloud infrastructure and used for compute, storage, diagnostics, advanced networking and connection brokering to run workloads at scale, while reducing desktop management, infrastructure and support costs, according to the vendor.

At the same time, CWMS V5.3 will continue to support IaaS-based remote desktop services (RDS) currently available for production deployments in Azure, including Azure Government, other public clouds and hybrid/on-premises deployment.

The partnership between CloudJumper and IGEL, announced Monday, is about simplifying the deployment and management of cloud workspaces, including WVD workspaces delivered on Microsoft Azure.

Igel’s Casey Cheyne

“CloudJumper offers a remarkably simple and cost-effective path to implement WVD cloud workspaces,” said Casey Cheyne, vice president, cloud partnerships at Igel. “By matching their simple pricing model with technology and services that optimize costs by dynamically scaling server resources, they are able to deliver cloud workspaces that are secure, enterprise-grade and WVD ready. CloudJumper is an ideal partner for Igel as we move to support any cloud, any device, anywhere.”

“Like CloudJumper, Igel is focused on future-proofing today’s cloud workspaces,” said Robin Brandl, vice president of strategic alliances at CloudJumper. “Igel delivers end-user computing solutions that are simple, smart and secure so that today’s dynamic workplaces can embrace any cloud technology that best supports their business demands. We are eager to collaborate on further integrations between our technologies, especially in support of the simplified adoption of WVD.”

Ingram Micro

Microsoft distribution partner Ingram Micro also made a couple of announcements, including that for the second year, it is funding the International Comet Competition, a global challenge for B2B technology startups. The International Comet Competition opens Aug. 1 and spans five continents. In separate news, Ingram Micro and AvePoint signed an agreement to …

… bring the ISV’s solutions to migrate, manage and backup data in Office 365 and Dynamics 365 to Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace.

MSPs that sign up for the new Ingram Micro Microsoft Modern Workplace Accelerate program, and qualify, will get discounted rates for AvePoint offers. Modern Workplace Accelerate is a global program designed to help partners scale their Office 365, Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365-related offerings. The program includes marketing services, sales tools, training, preferential pricing, cloud solutions and support.

“We’ve taken the same Office 365 migration and backup solutions leveraged by the biggest brands and 6 million cloud users across the world and designed them specifically for MSPs to manage multiple clients and tenants behind a single pane of glass,” said Tianyi Jiang, co-chief executive officer and co-founder of AvePoint.

Ingram Micro’s sponsored Comet competition is looking for more ISVs like AvePoint, a four-time Microsoft Global Partner of the Year. The Comet competition will award financial prizes to 15 ISVs. The top finalist in each region will get $100,000 in-kind go-to-market funding. Three runners-up in each region will be awarded $15,000. The competition winner will receive $1 million cash at Cloud Summit 2020.

The Comet competition runs in collaboration with Microsoft for Startups, a global startup program which reaches partners and customers in more than 50 global markets.

“Finding new routes to market for amazing, never-before-seen technologies benefits the entire channel ecosystem,” said Nimesh Davé, executive vice president, Ingram Micro Cloud. “Teaming with Microsoft affords us amazing scale and resources; in turn, we are extending these benefits to our Comet competition applicants, giving these startups the opportunity to share their ideas with a global audience.”
