BUMI Offers Iron Mountain Cloud Storage Customers a Migration Path

With all the doubt around the future of Iron Mountain’s public cloud storage offerings, it’s probable there are a number of Iron Mountain customers looking for a way out. At least, that’s what Backup My Info! (BUMI) is banking on with the introduction of its transition program giving Iron Mountain storage customers two months of free cloud disaster recovery and backup services.

There’s a catch — any organization wanting to participate must prove it’s an Iron Mountain customer, and must sign a 12-month contract. BUMI is offering a free audit ahead of any signing.

Companies that agree to go with BUMI for two months will receive the full range of its services, which includes online data backup, disaster recovery, data backup maintenance and testing and round-the-clock customer service. All of BUMI’s services use the company’s hybrid storage model, which it hypes as combining the best of local appliance-driven storage and cloud storage.

Iron Mountain got out of the cloud storage game because, it said, there wasn’t money to be made. Can BUMI take those customers and succeed where Iron Mountain failed?
