BTG Intros New Practice to Help During M&A, Bankruptcy
Breakthrough Technology Group on Thursday introduced a new practice to support distressed companies during a turnaround process, such as a merger/acquisition or bankruptcy restructuring.
BTG’s Transformational Cloud Practice provides resources to streamline and transition a company’s IT operations from “complex and ineffective infrastructure to cloud-based service environments,” according to the company.
Jeff Kaplan, BTG’s CEO, tells Channel Partners the practice creates new opportunities for partners to “expand the population of companies to which they market.” BTG’s partners serve more than 1,000 companies across North America.
“As you know, M&A has been quite active in 2015 thus far, and this skill set addresses a demand from that market,” he said.
According to KPMG’s 2015 M&A Outlook Survey Report, 82 percent of respondents said they were planning at least one acquisition in 2015, 19 percent planned to make two acquisitions, 11 percent planned three acquisitions and 10 percent planned four or more.
BTG’s new practice is comprised of three focus areas: transformational consulting to determine a road map on how to transform the environment; service delivery/implementation/migration; and private cloud management.
“Executing a complete overhaul of any organization’s computing environment can be accurately categorized as a complex IT turnaround migration project,” Kaplan said. “For companies engaged in mergers and acquisitions or bankruptcy restructuring, this intricate, multi-tiered task is further complicated by radical changes to day-to-day operations, new management and leadership.”
Organizations undergoing a restructuring, that are healthy and growing, but struggling with IT expenditures, also can benefit from this practice, he said.
“Despite the myriad differences between companies that are emerging from bankruptcy and those that are growing, both suffer from outdated technology resources that are not scalable, reliable, flexible or cost-effective enough to meet their needs,” Kaplan said.
BTG’s partner ecosystem includes such companies as AT&T, Citrix, Trend Micro, SolarWinds and NetApp.
