Blue Coat Demoing Cloud Service At RSA 2011
After promoting the Blue Coat Cloud Partner Program, Blue Coat is set to demonstrate a cloud service offering at 2011 RSA Conference 2011. The effort will focus on a Web Security Module that’s currently in beta testing.
On February 16 at the RSA Conference, Blue Coat Malware Researcher Chris Larsen will describe how cloud-based security can provide granular analysis for security abnormalities. Meanwhile, Blue Coat will be hosting a series of tech presentations that examine Web security issues and the best practices for using cloud security to negotiate social media. Indeed, social media data loss prevention seems to be Blue Coat’s focus, with Facebook a central topic of discussion.
Just a quick refresher: Blue Coat’s Web Security Module for the Blue Coat Cloud Service is currently in beta, but will be available in March 2011. Blue Coat’s aim is to bring enterprise-level features to smaller businesses. Meanwhile, Blue Coat isn’t the only name that has been flexing their cloud muscle. Both Websense and CoreTrace have been focusing their energy on forms of cloud security. And Novell has been busy evangelizing its new Cloud Security Service for MSPs. The 2011 time frame could very well be a battle in the cloud of competing security technologies.
But be on the look out for bigger names like Symantec — which is now promoting the Symantec.cloud brand to partners and customers.
