Barracuda Networks (CUDA)’s most recent version of Barracuda Copy includes a revamped Web interface for IT administrators and a new on-premises device called Barracuda Copy Site Server, which enables onsite and cloud-based file sync and share.

The Campbell, California-based security and application delivery technology provider this week said this version of Copy was developed with the guiding principles of the company’s Data Protection Plus strategic initiative in mind. Those guiding principles are to assist customers with accessing, retaining and sharing critical data from anywhere and any device.

With the redesign of Copy’s web interface, Barracuda hopes to improve file sharing and management performance for IT administrators by building on the product’s existing strengths.

“Barracuda went to the field to truly understand customer needs, creating a user-friendly interface that addresses their core feature requirements,” said Tony Liau, senior product marketing manager of Storage Portfolio Organizations at Barracuda. “We comprehensively tested and then further enhanced the product before launching it to the public.”

Additional enhancements to Copy include lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) integration, live Office previews, drag and drop and integration with CopySite Server Management.

Now generally available, Copy Site Server, available as a physical or virtual appliance, was developed to provide organizations with a hybrid onsite and cloud-based file sync and share solution. It includes features such as local recovery, network drive suport and traffic optimization.

“Copy Site Server reduces bandwidth needs for organizations by having endpoints sync data locally on the network instead of congesting internet traffic,” Liau said. “Organizations that are looking to replace standard file servers can leverage Copy Site Server as a solution that will provide continuous protection by replicating data to Copy Cloud.”

For channel partners, “Barracuda Copy offers simple user data protection,” Liau told Talkin’ Cloud.

“Barracuda Copy cloud-based file sync and share with the optional on premise appliance opens the doors for channel partners to offer a comprehensive data protection portfolio of solutions to their customers,” he said.
