Cloud security and storage solutions provider Barracuda Networks (CUDA) has officially released the Barracuda Backup 290 in addition to an update to its existing Backup 390 solution.

“Giving customers choice and flexibility has always been a top priority for Barracuda,” said Rod Mathews, general manager, Storage at Barracuda, in a statement. “Barracuda Backup 290 provides an option for branch offices looking to back up their local data at an affordable cost.”

According to the company, Backup 290 comes equipped with 1TB of storage, giving customers an intermediate option between the 500GB 190 solution and the newly upgraded 390 solution that sports 2TB of usable storage. All three models can be purchased either as an appliance with subscriptions sold separately or as part of the company’s Backup-as-a-Service plan, which includes an appliance, Energize Updates, Instant Replacement and Unlimited Cloud Storage with one-, three- or five-year payment options, according to the company.

The Barracuda Backup 290 is available now for $1,499 for the appliance or as part of the Backup-as-a-Service offering for $1,799 a year. The Barracuda Backup 390 with additional storage will retain its current list price of $2,499 for the appliance or for $2,999 a year with the bundle.

Earlier this week, Barracuda announced that its Barracuda Backup has earned VMware Ready Status as part of the VMware (VMW) Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) certification program, certified to work with the virtualization giant’s product ecosystem.
