Backupify Launches Salesforce.com CRM Cloud Backup Offering

As you may guess from the name, Backupify specializes in, well, the backing up of cloud data, and is best known as a prominent Google ISV partner. But in advance of a full backup solution, Backupify has unveiled Snapshot for Salesforce CRM (currently in beta), a data liberation product that lets an enterprise download a complete copy of all its Salesforce.com data to that point.

The value proposition is simple, according to Backupify: At any point, users can grab a complete backup of all their Salesforce.com data, including file attachments and critical data objects. If anything ever happens to the Salesforce.com data, including the accidental deletion of key customers, Backupify can help restore it “in a matter of minutes.”

This launch foreshadows two key cloud developments, according to Backupify: First, there’s a rising need for data management when it comes to cloud-based enterprise applications. Second, later this quarter, Backupify plans to expand its online backup service to Salesforce.com CRM data, including regularly scheduled backups that require no user intervention. That full service also will have enhanced search and retrieval functions.

As I noted above, Backupify is probably best known for its Google Apps backup solutions. But with Salesforce.com apparently growing out of control, expanding its offering seems like an obvious move for Backupify.
