Avnet Technology Solutions Launches Cloud Toolset
Avnet Technology Solutions (AVT) this week took steps to ensure its American and Canadian managed service provider (MSP) and value-added reseller (VAR) partners can help customers better manage their cloud accounts.
The Phoenix-based IT solutions distributor has launched the Avnet Cloud Toolset (ACT) that Avnet partners can use to help Amazon Web Services (AWS) and IBM SoftLayer customers learn more about their cloud spending and invoices.
Avnet said its partners and their customers can use ACT to “accurately track individual and aggregate cloud usage for their organizations, helping them to optimize their enterprise-wide AWS and SoftLayer spend.”
The toolset can help users with cloud governance and cloud consolidation, Avnet noted, and ensures Avnet partners can track their customers’ cloud usage across every major AWS and SoftLayer service category.
“One of the benefits of cloud computing is that its services can easily be purchased by individuals within a company to meet their most immediate business needs,” Tim FitzGerald, vice president of cloud solutions for Avnet’s Americas division, said in a prepared statement. “However, this makes it extremely challenging for companies to obtain a comprehensive view of their cloud spending, identify ways to maximize their cloud investments and create a system to monitor usage and spending within areas of their business.
“The Avnet Cloud Toolset enables partners to solve this challenge for their customers. With the Avnet Cloud Toolset, they will be able to provide cloud consumption details at a departmental level and a transparent enterprise view,” he said.
ACT is available to Avnet’s MSP and VAR partners in the U.S. and Canada.
What does ACT offer Avnet’s MSP and VAR partners?
FitzGerald told Talkin’ Cloud that Avnet launched ACT to help its MSP and VAR partners and their customers “govern, consolidate, manage and track cloud accounts across multiple cloud providers.”
The toolset also can help Avnet partners and their customers simplify their billing processes, FitzGerald said.
“[ACT] positions our partners as trusted advisors who are better able to help their customers optimize their cloud spend,” he added. “Also, it can help the partner better alert the customer to any governance issues related to the cloud.”
