A new Dell (DELL) survey of 1,302 business and IT decision-makers revealed security concerns are limiting the adoption of cloud and mobility solutions throughout many organizations worldwide.

The Dell Data Security Survey showed many C-suite executives are prioritizing data security, but IT teams are still not allocating the necessary energy or resources to address security challenges. 

“These findings suggest that the C-level has to be more engaged when it comes to integrating data security strategies into their business,” Steve Lalla, Dell’s vice president of commercial client software & solutions, said in a prepared statement. “Business leaders understand the need to invest in their security infrastructure, but that isn’t translating into updating or expanding their current systems to adequately prevent modern attacks.”

So what do the survey results mean for cloud services providers (CSPs)?

Lalla pointed the costs and time constraints that frequently are associated with traditional single-point data security solutions may have an adverse impact on IT departments.

However, a CSP that can help IT departments lower their costs and streamline their data security may be able to fulfill their data security needs for years to come. 

“For companies with hundreds or thousands of employees, managing each endpoint separately using multiple consoles is extremely inefficient and leads to a high probability of conflict or incompatibility,” Lalla noted. “Implementing a single, integrated suite for IT management can drastically improve this process.”
