Amazon Web Services (NASDAQ: AMZN) and AWS GovCloud (US) Region may get another boost in the government cloud market. The reason: DLT Solutions, a government VAR, has added AWS to its GSA IT Schedule 70 (GS-35F-4543G), NIH ECS III, NCPA,and other agency-specific contracts.

How will the government potentially benefit? DLT Solutions offered this rather dramatic statement:

“Through these contracts, federal, state, local and tribal government entities now have fast and cost effective means to procure secure and reliable cloud-ready AWS solutions, thus enabling them to instantly spin-up hundreds or thousands of servers and storage in minutes, reducing delivery time to constituents.”

Most major public cloud providers and SaaS companies now offer government-centric solutions. The Microsoft Office 365 and Google Apps battle has been particularly intense in the government market.

Amazon also is working hard in the cloud market. For instance, AWS GovCloud (US) Region is designed to allow US government agencies and customers to move more sensitive workloads into the cloud by addressing their specific regulatory and compliance requirements.

DLT Solutions notes:

“The AWS GovCloud Region framework adheres to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements, providing a cloud option to customers who have the specific requirement that their systems and data be only accessed by U.S. persons.”
