The Accenture (ACN) Cloud Platform is being expanded to support a variety of IaaS offerings, including Amazon (AMZN) Web Services, Microsoft (MSFT) Windows Azure, Verizon (VZ) Terremark and NTT Communications. Used to provide cloud management services for public and private infrastructure offerings, Accenture Cloud Platform has the chance to gain a greater following and have more impact in the cloud space with the addition of new cloud platform providers, many of which are among the leaders in the space.

With this new support, Accenture Cloud Platform will provide various services for each, including:

“An expanded provider portfolio increases our geographic footprint, helping us to better serve our clients around the world as they migrate to the cloud, and fits with our blueprint for enterprise-grade cloud services,” said Michael Liebow, managing director and global lead for Accenture Cloud Platform, in a prepared statement.

Signing on these cloud platform providers will increase Accenture’s global reach within its cloud practice, but it also means being able to provide a more flexible cloud architecture with open source components. According to Accenture, the end result will be a lowering of costs for its customers.

Accenture has big plans for the cloud, as it previously announced a $400 million investment in cloud technologies and services that will take it through to 2015.
