Amid Poor Results Overall, IBM’s Cloud Business Growing
IBM recorded $3 billion in net income during the third quarter of this year, which represented a 14 percent year-over-year decline. However, Big Blue noted that its total cloud revenues have increased 45 percent year-to-date.
Docker Buys Tutum, a Cloud Service for Container Management
Docker has added Tutum, a cloud service that enables developers and system administrators to deploy and manage Docker applications, to its portfolio. The open source platform provider said the Tutum acquisition will allow it “to extend a seamless Docker experience through commercial offerings that provide management and support of distributed applications at scale in production.”
Trend Micro Acquires HP TippingPoint, Establishing Game-Changing Network Defense Solution
Trend Micro has acquired network security provider HP TippingPoint for approximately $300 million. The acquisition will enable Trend Micro to expand its defense solutions across the cloud, data center, endpoints and network, according to the company.
Accenture Completes Acquisition of Cloud Sherpas, Strengthening Enterprise Cloud Capabilities
Accenture has finalized its acquisition of cloud advisory and technology services provider Cloud Sherpas. In addition, Accenture said more than 1,100 Cloud Sherpas professionals have joined the company’s new Cloud First Applications team.
Egnyte Launches Industry’s First ‘Smart’ Reporting & Auditing File Service
Cloud-based file sharing services provider Egnyte has released a Smart Reporting and Auditing service to provide organizations with greater visibility into the content life cycle. Egnyte said the new service enables users to leverage big data “to reduce cost, reduce risk and increase visibility.”
