This week’s edition features cloud computing news from IBM (IBM), Cosentry, ManageEngine, International Data Corp (IDC) and Research and Markets.  

IBM, CSC Team for Hybrid Cloud Expansion

IBM has expanded its partnership with IT services provider CSC to “help global enterprise clients accelerate their transition to the cloud.” Big Blue pointed out the IBM Cloud will be incorporated into CSC’s IT strategy and could help the IT services provider deliver new solutions designed to meet enterprises’ compliance requirements.

TierPoint Buys Midwest Data Center Provider Cosentry

TierPoint will acquire cloud, colocation and managed service provider Cosentry for an undisclosed sum. Cosentry will become a subsidiary of TierPoint and operate under the TierPoint brand after the transaction is finalized, according to Tierpoint. 

ManageEngine Debuts Cloud Edition of Mobile Device Manager Plus

ManageEngine has launched a cloud version of Mobile Device Manager Plus, its mobile device management (MDM) software solution. The IT management company also unveiled the Mobile Device Manager Plus Free Edition, which supports up to 25 devices and can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud.

Cloud Environments Will Account for a Third of Worldwide Spending on Enterprise IT Infrastructure in 2015, Led by Growth of Public Cloud Datacenters, According to IDC

IDC has predicted that total spending on IT infrastructure products for deployment in cloud environments will increase by 24.6 percent in 2015 to reach $32.8 billion. In addition, IDC said spending on cloud IT infrastructure will grow from 28 percent of overall spending on enterprise IT infrastructure in 2014 to 32.9 percent in 2015.

Pricing the Cloud 2016 Edition – 2016 to 2020

A new Research and Markets report indicated that Amazon Web Services (AWS) continues to dominate the cloud computing products market, followed by Microsoft Azure. The report also showed public cloud services have reached a price point that is “now relatively stable.”
