Synnex Jumps into Mobility Market with New MobilitySolv Initiative
Distributor Synnex (NYSE:SNX) is taking the plunge headlong into mobility, kicking off a sales and solutions initiative called MobilitySolv to help channel partners capture a larger portion of sales as businesses increasingly transition to mobile enterprises.
The idea is to equip Synnex’s channel partners with end-to-end mobility and connectivity solutions from best-of-breed vendors to deploy to customers to keep workforces connected and productive. The effort, led by Adnon Dow, Synnex global mobility solutions business unit VP, aims, for example, to supply channel partners with solutions to help customers manage remote devices and, correspondingly, lower costs.
“MobilitySolv gives Synnex resellers a unique opportunity to solve their customers’ mobility challenges beyond just controlling devices,” said Dow. “It’s more about mobilizing the enterprise, while being able to analyze the data behind it and understand what to do with that data to make smart business decisions,” he said.
Synnex has plenty of competition among distributors for the attention of mobility-focused channel partners. Tech Data’s (NASDAQ: TECD) TDMobility unit links channel partners to carriers, manufacturers and software developers while Ingram Micro’s (NYSE: IM) mobile division has an extensive folder of solutions to which the distributor recently added SAP’s mobile portfolio. Also, Avnet’s (NYSE: AVT) Technology Solutions arm has been operating its MobilityPath practice to help VARs accelerate their mobile expertise and offerings to customers since October, 2010.
Synnex intends to differentiate its mobility program though a strategy it is calling “Connect, Move and Control,” which Dow said is about “connecting people, devices and networks to anyone, to anything at any time.” The distributor plans a series of roadshows to educate channel partners about how collaborating with Synnex will help them build a strong mobility practice.
“At Synnex, we embrace change, and at certain times we create new business models to address tipping point trends responsible for changing how businesses operate and how people consume information,” said Kevin Murai, Synnex president and CEO. “With mobility and cloud reshaping the IT industry, MobilitySolv goes beyond products and infrastructure, resulting in a comprehensive, service oriented and value-added end-to-end mobile solution.”
