SMBs, Rejoice! VMware Launches VMware Go Pro
VMware Go Pro — VMware’s cloud service than can help with IT management — is now generally available. VMware says it will boost users’ productivity and give SMBs the technology to dip their toes into virtualization with vSphere. Here’s the scoop:
SMBs looking to “consolidate, control and secure” their virtual, physical and IT infrastructure are the target users for Go Pro. Designed to be easy to use, VMware Go Pro features a single screen for managing an IT environment, helping IT admins focus their resources at hand to important tasks when needed. VMware worked with Shavlik Technologies to help utilize Shavlik Technologies’ know-how in IT and patch management, specifically for SaaS and on-premise solutions.
According to VMware, Go Pro provides an “easy on-ramp” for VMware vSPhere, since VMware Go Pro includes a wizard to guide users in deploying a VMware vSphere hypervisor. Go Pro is also being touted as ideal for controlling software inventory and licenses, while also helping track and manage hardware assets by reaching out into the network and inventorying computers and devices.
VMware Go Pro also enables users to easily create and manage tickets as well as instantly know their due date, priority and status. IT managers also can analyze past ticket reports to better understand trends and IT workload.
VMware Go Pro will be available for $29.95 per admin/month price tag. Channel partners can get the service “later this year,” according to VMware’s release.
