Mobile App Platform Vendor WorkLight Looking for Partners
ISVs in the market for a mobile application development platform might want to check out WorkLight. The company is launching a partner program for ISVs and OEMs looking to capitalize on the growing demand for mobile applications that integrate with the workplace. Intrigued? Read on for the details.
WorkLight has designed a robust enterprise-grade development platform called WorkLight Studio, a multi-platform IDE that includes support for native, web and hybrid application development. The idea is to reduce the time to market for key business applications by being able to cross-develop them simultaneously. The WorkLight IDE provides an environment to code and then export to the appropriate device’s platform. It’s not clear how things are shuffled around for more closed-source systems such as iOS XCode programing or Windows Phone 7, but according to WorkLight:
WorkLight Studio also allows cross-platform development for tablets in addition to Blackberry and Android smartphones. You can check out some screen shots of the IDE in action here.
WorkLight Partner Program members get all the training, tools, marketing and support they’ve come to expect with any partner program, including co-marketing and more. WorkLight is targeting service companies and system integrators that build mobile applications, along with technology suppliers that specialize in mobile infrastructure, to join its program.
Once aboard, partners can elevate themselves from Select to Premier and Strategic partner levels. Notable companies that have partnered with WorkLight include Google, RIM, Microsoft and IBM.
The market for enterprise mobile apps continues to be hot. Developers — especially those that can develop for multiple platforms — stand to be the winners in this burgeoning market. Utilizing the resources of a company such as WorkLight certainly couldn’t hurt.
