What does it take to provide a data backup and disaster recovery and business continuity solution that delivers total data protection? Working with a BDR solutions provider that is committed to innovation enables a managed service provider to offer total data protection services to customers.

For managed service providers (MSPs), safeguarding customer data at all times is important, and service providers must be prepared to protect customer data no matter where it lives.

Also, all data protection plans must be as fluid as the information flowing in and out of the companies that rely on them, according to data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) software company Datto.

So what does it take to provide a data BDR and business continuity solution that delivers total protection?

Working with a BDR solutions provider that is committed to innovation enables an MSP to offer total data protection services to customers.

Datto, for example, recently bought cloud BDR solutions provider Backupify and plans to launch a “Total Data Protection Platform” for businesses of all sizes.

Together, Datto and Backupify plan to create a platform to protect business data that is housed on-premise, in a cloud or within software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications and enable MSPs to offer new instant recovery and protection services.

“Adding Backupify’s technology is an important step in building a true Total Data Protection Platform,” Datto CEO Austin McChord wrote in a blog post. “Over the coming months, our teams will work to build a single, elegant platform that will allow for simple and easy protection and restores no matter what kind of data a business may need to protect.”

A Datto spokesperson told MSPmentor that the Backupify acquisition also gives MSPs new recurring revenue opportunities and enables service providers to streamline their backup, recovery and business continuity solutions portfolio with one vendor.

Datto is taking steps to help service providers meet all of their customers’ data protection needs, and an MSP that partners with a BDR solutions provider that embraces innovation like Datto could improve its data BDR and business continuity offerings.
