Velocity Extends Cloud Application Hosting to Canada

Velocity Technology Solutions, a hosted applications specialist, is expanding into Canada through a partnership with Primus Telecommunications Canada. In order to address potential corporate compliance and regulatory issues, Primus and Velocity will assure Canadian customers their data is being kept domestically. Here’s the scoop.

The New York-based Velocity made their name by delivering enterprise-grade, hosted ERP solutions and other software as a service from their On-Demand platform. The company recently acquired a Lawson Software-focused hosting business from NaviSite.

For its part, Primus is a major Canadian IP communications and hosting provider serving over 40,000 companies. They’ll be providing Velocity On-Demand from the London Data Centre, what Primus claims is a world-class data center, one of seven they have in Canada.

No doubt, many SaaS-centric companies in the U.S. have been trying to build international strategies. But some U.S. companies have experienced SaaS and cloud road blocks involving data privacy, corporate compliance issues and government regulations. By partnering up with a Canadian-based data center company, U.S.-based Velocity apparently avoids those hurdles in Canada.
