UniPrint Managed Print Solutions Opens Enterprise Opportunities

UniPrint, which describes itself as a printing virtualization provider for the enterprise, has introduced a managed print solution that the company claims is compatible with any computing environment. Here are the details.

The new solution is called UniPrint Infinity and allows business users to select which printers to print company documents from, based on the user’s own specific requirements. UniPrint’s managed print solution is compatible with all printing hardware from all printing manufacturers, according to UniPrint.

UniPrint’s newest managed print solution is targeted specifically at the large enterprise sector. Larger enterprise companies typically have more printers than most companies, and therefore are more likely to have printers from multiple organizations within their business networks.

According to UniPrint, other managed print solutions are nearly impossible to use in these complex environments because they are not compatible with multiple printer hardware manufacturers. So these large organizations must either put several managed print solutions in place, or handle their printing jobs on their own. According to UniPrint VP of Software Development Aaron Fu, the latter option simply won’t do in the enterprise world.

“With UniPrint Infinity, enterprises no longer need to standardize their printer fleet and can realize significant cost savings as a result,” Fu said in a prepared statement.

After a bit of quiet start to the beginning of the year, the managed print services (MPS) and managed document services (MDS) sector is generating more noise. Aside from UniPrint, Xerox is expected to make a major MDS announcement this year. It looks like the MDS industry is starting to live up to being one of the hottest managed services markets of 2012.
