Transcend United, Coraid Partner on Cloud Storage Solution
Transcend United Technologies, an IT systems integration and managed services provider (MSP), has partnered with Coraid, an Ethernet SAN solution developer, to integrate Coraid’s Ethernet SAN storage solution into Transcend’s United Cloud Services.
The Transcend-Coraid partnership has several potential synergies. Both companies operate Internationally. Transcend assesses, designs, configures and installs IT and communications infrastructures both in the U.S. and abroad. Coraid claims to have over 1,500 customer worldwide.
According to Transcend VP of Managed Services Stephen Benson, the company pushed into the cloud sector to augment customers’ existing IT infrastructures as strategies. Typical focus areas include unified communications (UC), data infrastructure, backup and recovery solutions, and mobility/wireless solutions.
Meanwhile, Coraid’s EtherDrive gives enterprises a storage environment that, according to the company, is five to eight times cheaper than legacy storage solutions. Coraid also says that the EtherDrive can configure and address new storage in less than a minute. Overall, Benson said that the EtherDrive will improve Transcend’s cloud scalability, performance and simplicity so that it can further grow its hybrid cloud programs.
This is the first storage-related partnership we’ve heard from Coraid since the company partnered with the MSP Virteva on a midmarket cloud offering about a year ago. Coraid first debuted its Ethernet SAN solution in March 2010.
